We learned that all the boats on the river had these eyes painted on the front of them. I can't remember which reason it was for, maybe it was both. The first was that crocodiles would come and eat all of the fish, so they added eyes to the boats to make them look intimidating and scare away predators. The other possible reason for the eyes is to make the boats seem less offensive to fish and more like just another water animal so they would stop fleeing and would be easier to catch.
